Frequently Asked Questions

What is Value My Gold?

ValueMyGold.com is a free tool from Bullion.Directory.

It helps you estimate the value of your gold bullion and scrap gold based on real-world market data. It provides spot price, price target ranges, and typical retail prices to help you make informed buying or selling decisions.

How accurate are the prices?

Prices are updated daily using the latest spot gold and silver data. However, actual prices vary based on individual dealer premiums, market demand, and costs. Our calculations provide a market-based estimate based on extensive ongoing examination of the market, but final pricing will always depend on where and how you buy or sell.

What do Spot, Lowball, Target, and Retail values mean?

Spot Price: The global commodity trading market price.

Lowball Price: The lowest 'acceptable' offer you may receive from pawn shops or aggressive buyers.

Target Price: A fair, competitive purchase price from reputable dealers.

Retail Price: The full market price a private investor would pay when purchasing new.

Do you store or track my gold holdings?

No. We do not store or track any user data. All calculations run in your browser, and if you choose to download your stack CSV, the file is both created and stored on your device — not on our servers. Your privacy is 100% protected.

Why are my results different from any sepcific dealer prices?

Dealer pricing depends on premiums, overhead costs, and profit margins. ValueMyGold.com provides a realistic price range based on market averages but dealers may offer more or less based on demand, inventory, any special offers available and transaction size.

How often do prices update?

Gold spot prices are updated once per day to reflect the latest market data. Currency exchange rates are also refreshed daily.

Can I use this tool for investment decisions?

While ValueMyGold.com provides accurate real-world estimates, it is not financial or investment advice. Always consult with a professional before making buying or selling decisions.

Can I track silver? Platinum?

We currently support both gold and silver, and will add other precious metals such as platinum in future updates.

Can I download my valuation?

Once you enter your investment holdings, you can download your results as a CSV file, making it easy to track your portfolio over time.

Is ValueMyGold.com really free?

There are no sign-ups, subscriptions, or hidden fees. We reserve the right to add advertising to the site or earn revenue from affiliate partnerships and sponsorships, but these do not affect the pricing calculations you see.
